All Pointes West
September 11-13, 2009

Colorado Ballet proudly premieres the light-hearted and humorous Great Galloping Gottschalk, a work set to music by American composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk. The performance is choreographed by Denver native Lynne Taylor-Corbett and will open at the Newman Center on the University of Denver campus. Agnes DeMille’s Rodeo will close the program. Set to the Aaron Copland score, Rodeo follows a young cowgirl on her quest to prove she is as good as any man working on the ranch.

Don Quixote
October 16-25, 2009

The captivating story of windmills, the perfect woman, true love and more is rolled out at The Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Set to Ludwig Minkus’ moving music, this elaborate production is brought to life with live music, vibrant costumes and striking sets provided by the American Ballet Theatre.

HOLIDAY 2009 ISSUE

The Nutcracker
November 28 - December 27, 2009

The traditional holiday favorite features Tchaikovsky’s incredible score and the fabulous designs and costumes that make the holidays a memorable experience. The Ellie Caulkins Opera House is one of the best venues to see the classic ballet that is a favorite of young and old alike.

SPRING 2010 ISSUE

Beauty and the Beast
February 19-28, 2010

With fantastic costumes and imaginative scenery, the tale of selflessness, compassion and unconditional love will delight audiences. Complete with a scheming witch, an innocent girl, a beloved father and a handsome prince, the ballet chronicles a journey filled with things that aren’t quite what they seem. A family favorite, Beauty and the Beast offers a modern take on this classic story.

3motions
March 19-28, 2010

The season will conclude with a world premiere ballet by New York choreographer Brian Reeder, who has created works for several companies, including the Washington Ballet and the Northwest Pacific Ballet. It will be followed by Colorado Ballet’s premiere of Echoing of Trumpets, a one act ballet in which inhumanity is explored. The program concludes with the always-entertaining Celts, which is choreographed by Lila York and set to a traditional Irish score.
